Lost Planet Launch Event Report

Permalink 07:25:57 am, Categories: Event Pictures, Launch Event

So many pictures you’ll feel like you where there!

Our launch event for Lost Planet last night was a huge success, with over 1,000 people making their way to downtown San Francisco to help us celebrate. The line was huge, and even though we had food inside the venue, we also got pizza for people waiting in line outside before the doors officially opened at 8PM.

See the full gallery HERE.

96 Xbox 360s on the wall, 96 Xbox 360s...

This is what 96 Xbox 360s looks like, sitting in our warehouse. Microsoft has kindly lent us more 360s than you can shake a stick at for our event next week, and they just arrived this afternoon.

December Press Event

Permalink 12:12:20 pm, Categories: News, Event Pictures

Last week we held a special private pre-launch event in San Francisco, inviting members of the press and a few lucky Capcom fans. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go, due to both my nasty cold and my nasty work load. But Tony L, who you may remember covered the Gamespot After Hours event for me, did this nice write-up of last week’s event.

Lost Planet MVP Summit

I trust you’ve already checked out other coverage of our recent MVP Summit at Microsoft. Well, I’ve finally had a chance to catch up a bit with my other work and get around to posting my pictures from the event.

So I flew down on Thursday afternoon with Alicia and Phil. We checked into our hotel, and then swung by MS to check in with the Community team there. They were busy setting up the two rooms we would be using the following day.

After that we had some time so we headed over to the Redmond Town Center. We popped our heads into the EB Games there, and then stuffed our faces (after a noon flight with no lunch) at Claimjumper’s.

Lost Planet Summit Sightings

Last week I mentioned a little event we were doing up at Microsoft. Well, the event has now come and gone…

We got to hang out with a great bunch of guys and talk all things “Lost Planet.” Thursday night we had a great sort of round-table discussion in the hotel lobby while we waited for the rest of the crew to roll in. Friday morning we headed over to MS to finish setting up (the MS Community team did most of the work) and run through our agenda for the day before the arrival of the MVPs. I took the crew through the single-player mode with the first 4 stages during a Q&A session about the game. Then it was time to take a tour of the Xbox facilities, including the XOC (Xbox Operations Center) before heading to the on-site Microsoft Cafe. After a hearty lunch, we moved into a different room for some multiplayer action.

I’ll have a full report and lots o’ pictures tomorrow. I forgot to bring the cable for my digital camera to work today, so you’ll just have to wait.

In the meantime, check out the coverage done by our guests at the event…

A couple of things…

I’m heading up to Redmond this afternoon for a Lost Planet event we’re doing at Microsoft. I’ll be taking plenty of pictures and have a full report for you guys and gals next week.

Also, check back here soon, as I have some VERY big news to share with you in the coming day(s).

X06 Canada

Permalink 03:25:43 pm, Categories: General, Event Pictures

Okay, I have an excuse for not making this particular show. It was all the way up in Canada. But we had a few Capcomers up at the event showing off Lost Planet as well as Dead Rising – Rey Jimenez, Associate Publishing Project Manager, and Arne Cual-Pedroso, Public Relations Program Manager.

Rey took a few pictures and did a cool write-up of the event for me:

X06 Canada had a great turn out. If you don’t know what it is, it’s one of the premier Microsoft events held in Canada to showcase the Xbox 360. It was held on 10/18 in Toronto at the Brant House. Several publishers participated in the event, so there was something for every gamer.

The day started off with members of the press coming to check out what’s new and hot. We were showing builds of Lost Planet and some little known title, Dead Rising. Everyone already knew and loved Dead Rising, so we just had it showing just for the 2 or 3 people that actually haven’t played it yet. Like always Lost Planet was met with much adoration and anticipation. We actually had a new version of the current demo that’s been out since E3 to show off. We’ve had a lot of time to absorb feedback from the community since E3 to figure out ways to make it better. Based on these comments, the new demo (which has the same maps as the E3 demo) has improved AI, better textures and graphics, slight changes to the level layout and thermal energy dynamic, and a much requested melee attack. So now, just by hitting the B button, players can deliver pain via the butt of Wayne’s rifle.

After Hours in San Francisco

Permalink 02:11:38 pm, Categories: General, Event Pictures, Hands-On

Last week I mentioned the After Hours event Gamespot held in San Francisco over the weekend. Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling very well so I couldn’t make it up there. But I handed off my digital camera to a recent addition to the Capcom team, Tony. He was kind enough to do this great write-up of the event, which I will post here along with the pictures he took.

Note that all the pictures here are thumbnails, so click on them to view the full size versions.

So, I have the unique pleasure of writing this little mini-blog because our resident blogger, who you are all already familiar with, missed out on going to the GameSpot After Hours event with us this past Saturday. Okay, so it wasn’t really his fault. Brian works extremely hard around here and we don’t blame him for needing a little R&R.

So what’s up, everyone? I’m Tony, fresh out of college and the newest addition to the marketing team here at Capcom. I’m into almost all types of video games with the exception of sports games. I especially like RPGs and RTS games, but my forte is first person shooters. I also like coffee ice cream, Everybody Loves Raymond re-runs and long walks on the beach.
