I already shared a little bit about myself in my first post. So this week I want to add some visuals to that so you can see where I actually work.
So, let’s start the tour!
Click to see all the pictures.
I’ll go left to right across my desk, starting with the far left.
Here you can see my PS2 Test kit and cables, a Charles The III / Blue Jr. toy from Viewtiful Joe, my stack of magazines that I need to read through sometime (with the November OPM open to the Inaba/Clover Studio interview), a Street Fighter comic from our partners Udon Entertainment, a spankin’ fresh new copy of God Hand, and some old artwork done by my older daughter (now 8yo – I have a lot of her artwork up in my cubicle, as you will see).

More artwork by my budding artist daughter, including a Mega Man picture done just recently. There’s my phone, my Xbox 360 Test kit that lets me play Lost Planet, my Pioneer DD 5.1 headphones for my 360, and a fancy-schmancy Okami illustration/ad from Japan behind the headphones.

Where I do most of my work, including playing testing Lost Planet. My MS Natural keyboard, swank Dell 24” LCD monitor with a PIP window showing the Xbox 360 component cable input, and my personal Altec Lansing speakers (the “bass module” resides on the floor). Yes, LP looks nice on this monitor at 720p. But I much prefer playing it at home on my big HDTV and room-shaking surround system. I can’t wait to take the game home and play through it there, with the explosions rattling the windows and shaking the couch…

My pen/pencil caddy with a Lost Planet laser cell from the recent Dallas Gamestop show on top of it, my plastic Maximo toy, lots of pictures of my kids, and one picture of me with Elijah Wood taken at my first E3 in 2004 (he came by the booth to check out killer7). In the top left of the picture you can see my Viewtiful Joe pre-Henshin bobble-head (Inafune, Inaba, and some of the other Japanese producers say I look like him and nicknamed me “Joe” – although I have since shaved my goatie), my tiny big-headed Rei Ayanami (Evangelion) figure, and a few other figures.

More pictures, plus my stack of papers and files covering up my Capcom Fighting Evolution 1st Place sign. No, I didn’t win any SF tournament. We just had some signs left over and I got one for my desk.

My DMC2 hanging sign, plus my Gears of War poster I snagged by playing the hands-on at the Dallas Gamestop show a few weeks ago. Actually Charles in Charge shrieks every time he walks by and sees this poster (just like he shrieked when he saw a Halo 3 desktop wallpaper I had up on my screen one day). He hasn’t gone so far as to call me a “bloody wanker” or a “traitor” yet in that distinct British accent of his, but I can tell he is not 100% pleased. That’s when I gently remind him that it’s all in the name of “competitive research” or something along those lines.

My drawer o’ goodies. As you can tell, there are a ton of Japanese PS2 and Dreamcast games, among other things. I inherited this from the previous “Bilingual Marketing Specialist,” handed down from translator to translator over the years.

There you have it. Not terribly exciting, but it is what it is. I’ll take more pictures of the office, but if there’s anything specific you want to see (like what cool stuff we have in our lunch room), hit the Discuss link below and leave some feedback.
By the way, we’ve been playing multiplayer LP for about an hour a day lately, and I’m sure that trend will continue. I’ll try to do another MP session recap in the next few days to keep your appetites thoroughly whetted for the upcoming multiplayer demo.
Peace out.
