The update for Lost Planet is out! And it’s early (originally it wasn’t supposed to be out till the 9th)! Plus, we’ve drastically changed the scoring for Fugitive matches due to sneaky players simply using Fugitive as a quick way to pad their score, because they lack the true skillz to get points fair and square.

Remember that aside from bug fixes, all of the updates and additions are based on user feedback from fans like you, in our Lost Planet forums and elsewhere. So, THANK YOU for helping us make Lost Planet even better!

[More:]

First on the list of changes is the addition of a country flag next to the name of the match hosts on the search results screen.

This flag can also be seen in the lobby for each match next to each player’s gamertag.

The next new thing is that in the pre-game lobby, there is now an icon to the left of each players Gamertag, indicating the connection quality between you and that player, in the form of a ”!” symbol. The brighter this is, the better the connection strength between you and that player. The darker it is, the weaker the connection.

Notice the varying brightnesses of the ”!” symbol in these shots:

When the match is launched, you’ll notice again the country flags next to the gamertag of each player.

Then, once the match starts, you’ll notice that a voice chat indicator has been added to the left side of players’ gamertags in the In Team Elimination, Post Grab and Fugitive modes. It has three bars like this: )))

And finally, at the post-match results screen, you’ll notice that the voice chat indicator has been added as well. Plus, players who have left the results screen will be greyed out, as seen in the below image.

Another update, not shown above, is the big change in how scoring works for Fugitive matches now. The number of points awarded to the Fugitive player per kill is now reduced by 75%, so basically it will take the Fugitive 4 times the kills to win as before.

There were also a number of issues that have been resolved with this update. All of these have been addressed and fixed. This should fix all of the lag and invisible player issues people sometimes had online.

Sometimes in Fugitive mode there would be multiple Fugitives instead of just one
Occasionally, if an error occurred on the lobby screen, another lobby screen would be displayed on top of it
Sometimes when there was a long delay/lag, the game would hang at the transition screen going from the lobby to the game and then reboot
Sometimes when there was a long delay/lag, depending on the console, certain players in the match would become invisible for the duration of the match
Sometimes post-match Results screens would show players who did not participate in the match
Starting a taunt animation during a reload shortened the reload time as an exploit

So, what do you think of the update? Leave your comments here or join us in the Lost Planet forums!

Although this update was a few weeks early, the new downloadable maps are not available at this time. Look for those on or around March 9.
