Next Thursday, June 21, Lost Planet will see a brand new map pack update, with 3 new maps in Map Pack #3. Map Pack #1 gave us Radar Field and Island 902, while Map Pack #2 gave us Trial Point and Hive Complex. Well, now you’ll have 3 more amazing maps to play around in. Even if I didn’t work for Capcom, I’d still think that the multiplayer map designs are some of the absolute coolest I’ve seen on any console game. And with Map Pack #3, it gets even better.
Click through to see screenshots and videos of the three new maps.
The first map I’ll show you is called Ice Drop. Basically it looks like you’re playing in crazy ice caves and ice fields right under the Aurora Borealis.
Here’s the video fly-through:
And here are 4 screenshots from Ice Drop. Click to see the full-size images.
The second map in the bundle is called Ruins, and as the name suggests, it is set in some ancient jungle ruins.
Here’s the video fly-through:

And last but not least, are you ready to kick it old skool???? Are you ready for Lost Technology?????????
No, you’re eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. The whole level is actually made up of giant 8-bit-lookin’ blocks!! Even the flames and the data posts!! You can see it much better in the high-res screenshots below. Click to see the full-rez versions.
So, whaddaya think???
As with the previous 2 map packs, this one will be available for 400 MS points. June 21!! And if you haven’t picked up the Battleground map, which was released for free to the public a few weeks ago, be sure to do so.
Wait, there’s more….
I know some of you have been waiting a long time for this. Well, I am very pleased to say that the Lost Planet team (hard at work on finishing up the PC version of the game) is working on an update for Lost Planet on the 360, addressing the connectivity issues some of you may have been experiencing. I don’t know exactly when it will be ready, but it looks like it should be out sometime in July.
That’s it for the latest LP news.
BTW, I am doing a new blog covering all of our Live Arcade and PlayStation Network titles, including the new HD Remix versions of both Puzzle Fighter and Street Fighter. I have lots of exclusive artwork from the games and behind-the-scenes info about the development process. Check it out here.
