As you know, the industry has had a number of big shows in the last few weeks. I assume you’ve already downloaded the 5-minute Lost Planet video off of Xbox Live Marketplace from X06. If not, what are you waiting for? It’s got a ton of new gameplay with glimpses of new weapons, VS models, enemies, and stages. And as it says at the end of the video, we have a special downloadable multiplayer demo coming later this year.

We were at the Gamestop/EB show in Dallas a few weeks ago. If you’ve never heard of it, every year Gamestop flies all the store managers (including the EB managers now that they have merged, bringing the number up to nearly 4,000 managers) to Dallas to learn about new, upcoming games. And Capcom, along with all the other major publishers, were at the event to show off our goods. For us, that meant Lost Planet of course, and some other new upcoming titles including Power Stone Collection and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice For All.

As the resident A/V, home theater and computer guru at our office, I flew to Dallas a few days early to help set up and run the technical side of the ‘training session’ presentations that went on all day Friday and continued on through Saturday morning. I also helped man the booth on the show floor Saturday afternoon/night, in-between treks to check out the other booths. It was cool to have a chance to check out the rest of the show and get some hands-on time with the products, including the new hardware from Nintendo and Sony.

Here’s a picture of our booth at the Dallas Convention Center. We had kiosks hooked up for 4-player sessions of Lost Planet, plus a few kiosks for God Hand, Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded, and Phoenix Wright 2.

They broke the 4,000 or so people that attended the event into two waves, so during the afternoon into the night, we had about 2,000 people on the show floor at any given time. At our booth we gave away limited edition Lost Planet laser cells to everyone that came by. The above picture was taken before the doors opened, and you can see the laser cells lined up on the table there.

On one of my excursions into enemy territory, I spent a while checking out the other booths with friend and fellow Capcomer, Robert H. While we were out, he was jumped by a couple of Darklings from Take 2’s The Darkness, right there on the show floor! After a few moments of shock followed by panic at witnessing the horrific sight of a close friend being mauled by demonic creatures and screaming like a girl for help, my instincts kicked in and I went into full Frank West mode. I whipped out my camera and quickly got off a shot, scoring some serious Brutality PP-age. Then I grabbed a nearby plasma TV, splattered their skulls, and proceeded rescued my bud.

Attacked

After he tended to his wounds, Robert did an interview covering Lost Planet with the charming Miss Shira Lazar, one of the hosts of EBTV. I managed to rack up some extra Drama PP points with this shot taken after their interview.

Headlock

In case Rob’s girlfriend asks, no, he did not enjoy that. He swears.

I’m working on scoring some pics from our booth at TGS, among other things, so stay tuned.
